2) Edgewood Avenue Bringing New Orleans Flair To Atlanta
Structured as the first location as the Atlanta Edgewood & Railroad system thanks to Joel Hurt! This multipurpose district gives historic landmarks such as the Dixie Coca-Cola Bottling Company Plant, also known as Baptist Student Center, or Baptist Collegiate Ministry at Georgia State University. This landmark sits on the corner of our local experience where Georgia State University students commute for everyday activity.
This district is also known as the arts district in Atlanta. Guests will be able to hop on and off to take some quick photos to get to know this community and its arts filled aspect. From the George Floyd Mural to “ All Power to the People mural” created by Charmaine Minniefield. An artist who took her time in West Africa to create public art that has preserved and uplifted the stories of Black people and communities. This hop off attraction will take 15 minutes.
3) The AUC District – Atlanta University Center
Home to Morehouse College, Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, Morris Brown College & Morehouse School of Medicine the AUC district has been a training ground for activists, thinkers, and leaders for over a century. During this stop, we highlight the incredible contributions of Black scholars and student-led movements that helped desegregate Atlanta and transform America. Riders will also get a look at Ray Charles Performing Arts Center, that was built in 2010 after a huge donation of 2 million dollars.t has preserved and uplifted the stories of Black people and communities. This hop off attraction will take 15 minutes.
4) The Herndon Home Museum
Built by Alonzo Herndon, Atlanta’s first Black millionaire and founder of Atlanta Life Insurance Company, this elegant mansion stands as a testament to Black entrepreneurship and perseverance.
Guests learn how Herndon overcame slavery to become a powerful business leader who used his success to uplift his community. This is not a stop but a beautiful sight on all of our day time sightseeing tour experiences.
4) The Herndon Home Museum
No Civil Rights journey is complete without honoring the late Congressman John Lewis, a fearless advocate for justice who marched beside Dr. King and dedicated his life to equality.
